Just like us, this website is under construction. Self-actualizing, improving, owning the space. You know what we mean.

We're working hard to make this website as kick-ass as we can - yes, we are busy beavas. If you've wandered here, bookmark us and check back soon!

"White on the Inside" Snack Line

April, 1st gen Canadian born in Vancouver, was called a "banana" all her life by arguably well-meaning relatives.  In law school, the topic of "white on the inside" metaphors came up with friends of different hues during a smoke break. She learned about "coconuts" and "apples" from members of the appropriate races.  "WTF - why are we all fruit?!", she exclaimed. Then "Oreos" came up. "Why are we all foods?!"

Fast forward almost three decades, and April finds out that allegedly, in the UK, "brown on the outside, white on the inside" = Choco Ice and/or Bounty Bar.

"Twinkie" also came up, presumably for East Asians, but since Beava Tales embraces "twinks", we decided not to generate any confusion. Besides, I can't see many older East Asian generations using or knowing "Twinkie" because um, we wouldn't be eating that shit.
